Dr. Ray did not follow the modality multimedia principle. In his Powerpoint, if I concentrate on his text I cannot hear what he is saying. It split my attention because my reading speed is low. He also did not follow the embodiment principle. This can explain why experts are not able to follow all the principles. Because of the audience’s individual differences. Maybe some other people do not think Dr. Ray did not follow the modality principle because they reading fast and can focus on his audio when looking at the text. Experts cannot accommodate everyone’s preferences, so they might miss some principles.
In my past powerpoint, I used signalling principle to highlight what I want them to focus.

What I did not follow is spatial contiguity principle. Like the two pictures below, I separate the combination process to two slides. It doesn’t make sence if I did not explain well or they did not pay attention to what is going on.

Feedback principle will help in class or face to face Powerpoint presentation. Because when the audience have questions, you can explain it on time. This can help them learn better.
